About The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian brings the classic C.S. Lewis books back to the big screen, this time with more excitement and thrilling action than the first movie! Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy Pevensie randomly find themselves returning to the magically wonderful land of Narnia, this time older and discovering that over 1300 years have passed while they were living their normal lives back in London. Although much has changed in Narnia over the years, the intensity or uniqueness found in this mystical world certainly has not.
During their new adventures in Narnia, Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy become acquainted with an entirely new set of characters and learn that their beloved land is now very much different. Narnia, now ruled by the Telmarines and King Miraz, is in utter disarray and desperately in need of Aslan's return. A thrilling storyline, including well-organized plans, battles, and chases bring to life new characters such as Reepicheep, an amazing talking mouse; Trumpkin, a very helpful dwarf; Trufflehunter, a talking badger who still believes in Aslan and the Old Narnia; and Prince Caspian, himself.
Just as in "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe", the first big-screen adaptation of C.S. Lewis' wonderful fiction, the second film portrays a gripping story line filled with highs and lows, breath-taking occurrences, and special moments which capture every viewer to the core. When watching "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian", it seems entirely impossible to not become enraptured with the characters and the very emotions they are feeling.
Peter, now older and more mature, struggles with his current position and what his calling should be. Susan has grown into a beautiful young woman who is discovering the world of love and learning how to be more brave and more of a woman. Edmund, who has grown much over time both physically and inwardly, is more bold and more focused than ever before. Finally, once little Lucy is now quite the young lady who still possesses a child-like faith and a great longing for Aslan. Once again, viewers find themselves completely in love with the Pevensie children, and wanting to live this magical life through the big screen.
Walden Media has again delighted and impressed audiences with their phenomenal adaptation of "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian". This movie has the capacity to move, inspire, and challenge viewers in a way they never thought possible. The wonderful scenery, excellently composed musical themes, exciting battle scenes, portrayals of courage and chivalry, and flowing story make this movie a highly-rated experience, one that will make you anxious for the return to Narnia in the very near future!
Synopsis/Review
From AmazonMore exciting than The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian continues the movie franchise based on C.S. Lewis' classic fantasy books. The movie picks up where the first left off... sort of. It's been a year since the Pevensie children--Peter (William Moseley), Susan (Anna Popplewell), Edmund (Skandar Keynes), and Lucy (Georgie Henley)--returned to England from Narnia, and they've just about resigned themselves to living their ordinary lives. But just like that, they're once again transported to a fantastical land, but one with a long-abandoned castle. It turns out that they are in Narnia again--and they themselves lived in that castle, but hundreds of years ago in Narnia time. They've been summoned back to help Prince Caspian (Stardust's Ben Barnes, resembling a young, cultured Keanu Reeves), the rightful heir to the throne who's become the target of his power-hungry uncle, King Miraz (Sergio Castellitto). And he's not the only one threatened: Miraz's people, the Telmarines, have pushed all the Narnians--the talking animals, the centaurs and other beasts, the walking trees--to the brink of extinction. Despite some alpha-male bickering, Peter and Caspian agree to fight Miraz alongside the remaining Narnians, including the dwarf Trumpkin (Peter Dinklage) and the swashbuckling mouse Reepicheep (voiced by Eddie Izzard). (Also appearing is Warwick Davis, who was in Willow and the 1989 BBC version of Prince Caspian.) But of course they most of all miss the noble lion, Aslan, who would have never let this happen to Narnia if he hadn't disappeared.
Prince Caspian is epic, evoking memories of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings films. (Some of the battle elements may seem too familiar, but they were in Lewis's book.) And it's appropriate for kids (Reepicheep could have come out of a Shrek movie), though the tone is dark and there is a lot of death, albeit bloodless. After two successful films, Disney and Walden Media's franchise has proved successful enough that many of the characters are scheduled to return in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. --David Horiuchi, Amazon.com
